ReadWorks team gathers in Nashville, TN The ReadWorks team came together in Nashville for a productive, collaborative, and fun retreat! We enjoyed brainstorming new ideas, sharing our partnership work with Vanderbilt University on campus, and participating in team-building activities to bring us closer together. We are grateful for the opportunity to recharge, refocus, and reconnect with our amazing colleagues, and to bring the positive momentum back to our home offices around the country to achieve even greater things for the teachers and students we proudly support! Time is a scarce resource in the classroom. Adding additional materials to enrich your curriculum can feel overwhelming. Luckily, ReadWorks is designed to support the learning that is already happening in your classroom. The science of reading is clear: students need deep content and vocabulary knowledge to become skilled comprehenders. One of the most effective ways to increase this knowledge-building in your classroom is adding additional content-rich texts to your core curriculum. As a supplemental resource, ReadWorks aims to simplify this search for high-quality, engaging content to heighten your student’s excitement and deepen their knowledge about any classroom topic. In addition to our Amplify CKLA alignment and NGSS set of connected passages, we’ve added a new Wit & Wisdom® alignment.* With all of these, we’ve done the work for you! Our curated passages provide easy ways for you to assign ReadWorks texts that directly correspond to themes and topics already being covered in each curricular module or unit. Every ReadWorks passage includes a text-dependent question set to deepen students’ comprehension practice .. Teachers can choose to print or digitally assign the related ReadWorks’ passages – as always, all for FREE. Parts of these alignments also include one of ReadWorks’ newest products: our Book Studies. Teaching a novel in your class? Book Studies are a great option to bring in additional readings to deepen students’ understanding of the novel. These hand-curated text sets of diverse fiction and nonfiction passages make a great addition to any lesson plan. *Great Minds was not involved in the development of this alignment and reference to Wit & Wisdom does not indicate approval or endorsement of this alignment.
