Why Assign Paired Texts?
Research has shown that reading multiple texts on a related topic can build vocabulary and knowledge exponentially more quickly than reading unrelated texts. If you'd like to learn more, read about the research behind our high-quality, diverse texts.
How to Use Paired Texts
Paired texts are two articles about a common topic, theme, or literary element. All paired texts come with a custom question set that supports students in drawing important connections between the two texts. Each of these question sets is:
2. Questions 3 and 4 focus on the second article.
3. The culminating questions focus on the connections between the first and second article.
For K-1 or early readers, use our read-aloud protocol with your students to deepen their listening comprehension. This can also be beneficial for students in older grades when they have their texts read aloud to them.

Differentiate with Paired Texts
Paired texts have audio as an option that a teacher can enable when digitally assigning the set. A teacher can turn on audio for their whole class, groups of students, or individual students.
