Article-A-Day
Building knowledge on a wide variety of topics is key to your child's success in reading and in school. Our Article-A-Day routine makes it easy and fun - and we planned the whole year for you! See how to do the routine digitally or on paper below.
Sharing knowledge motivates children—so bonus points if you can ask them what they learned from reading or have them share with a sibling or friend. Tag @ReadWorks on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram to share your Book of Knowledge creations and entries!

Learn the daily routine
STEP 1: Set the purpose for the routine. "Words are where humans store knowledge. So we will build our knowledge by reading these articles. We will also grow our vocabulary and build a joy of reading."
STEP 2: Children read or listen to an article. ReadWorks has curated weekly sets of nonfiction articles. All of the articles for the week are related by topic. If children cannot read on their own, they can listen to the audio or you can read the article aloud with them.
STEP 3: The Book of Knowledge. Children write or type two or three things that they learned from the article and would like to remember in their Books of Knowledge. If students cannot write yet, they can draw their responses.
STEP 4: Share knowledge! Adults learn from our passages, too! Share what you have learned as a family.
