The mission of the ReadWorks Young Professionals Council is to further the growth of ReadWorks, the achievement of its development goals, and to raise awareness to a large and diverse audience through the involvement of interested and energetic young professionals.
About the Council
ReadWorks is a Brooklyn-based edtech nonprofit that is working to ensure that all students across the country become readers. If a child cannot read, the results are devastating, impacting their entire life. ReadWorks is used by over 13 million educators and students each year to build vocabulary, improve comprehension, and achieve and exceed proficiency in reading—preparing students for success in school and in life.
The ReadWorks Young Professionals Council seeks to provide a point of entry to the ReadWorks community for young professionals who are passionate about education, tech, literacy, and/or diversity, equity, and inclusion. |
The idea is not simply to be a fundraising entity. The ideal member will be committed and enthusiastic and have a strong interest in supporting and promoting ReadWorks’ mission.
The ReadWorks Young Professionals Council will be included in both fundraising and volunteer initiatives. On the fundraising front, the Council will hold two fundraising events per year, will champion ReadWorks within their companies, organizations, and communities, introduce the ReadWorks team to potential partnerships they might know, and will also be involved in other ReadWorks fundraising/friendraising initiatives.
Members will also have volunteer opportunities, primarily virtual opportunities with occasional in-person volunteering/event participation possible.
