How to do the Summer of ReadWorks routine

  • Each week is a new, rich topic about science, arts, technology, or world cultures. Each day, your reader will read an article about the week’s topic, building a deep well of new, connected knowledge.  Read along with your reader to share in the learning and growing!

  • Once you and your reader have read the day's passage, talk about it together! Spark family conversation by asking, "What did you learn from this article that you thought was interesting and you want to remember?" Just this one question can be enough to make the reading experience meaningful.

  • Your reader then records this interesting knowledge in the Book of Knowledge, located at the end of the workbook. Writing will cement this new knowledge in your reader’s memory, where they can draw on it each time they tackle new reading.
