1. Have each member of the family pick a hero to read about. Trying choosing one you've never heard about before. Read about the heroes until you find one you can look up to.
5-7 year olds:

2. Read about this portrait of James Baldwin by Beauford Delaney and create your own Portrait that Pops of the hero you chose. Just follow the steps in the activity below. Feel free to search Google Images for the perfect photo of your hero.
3. Share your hero! Read the passage about your hero aloud and share your portrait. Discuss your decisions about the colors and techniques you used to create your portrait.
