Your 5th-8th Grade students have the chance
to bring Neokosmos to life! This Halloween 🎃, we're bringing you a brand new contest for students to draw an illustration for one Alien Kids installment for publication on ReadWorks.
All you need to do is follow these steps!
Our panel of judges will pick one winning image to be published alongside its respective installment on ReadWorks on November 23, 2021. All images, no matter which installment, will be judged collectively, resulting in one winning entry for one installment, so students should select the installment they feel they can illustrate best. Have your students read the Alien Kids series.
There are 5 installments in this suspenseful and thrilling science fiction story. Don't forget to complete the accompanying question set and vocabulary activity for each passage as you complete the story!

Step 2: DRAW
Introduce the illustration contest to your students.
Students should select one installment of the series and create an illustration to represent that installment.
One illustration will be selected by our panel of judges to be published on ReadWorks with attribution to the artist.
Honorable mentions will be selected for each grade level 5th-8th, and those illustrations will be published on the ReadWorks blog.

All illustrations must be submitted by teachers, parents, or guardians.

1. Make sure your students' illustrations follow all the guidelines laid out here
2. Submit your students’ drawings to ReadWorks with this form
3. Teachers may submit ONE entry per student
No entries will be accepted for judging after midnight Eastern Time October 31st, 2022. -- DEADLINE EXTENDED to midnight ET on November 4th!
ReadWorks has assembled a panel of expert judges to pick the winning illustration. All images, no matter which installment, will be judged collectively, resulting in one winning entry for one installment.
The winner will be announced on November 23rd, 2022.
